King George is Back!    © 2004 by Mike Dakota

I was talking to George Washington.
He said, "The Constitution
is a tortured old rag,
torn apart by men draped in flags."

He said "Your President, can you believe ?,
thinks he's named after me,
but, it's the other George.
The one I fought against in Valley Forge."

King George is back,
only now he wears a cowboy hat.
Tying up our freedom like a rodeo calf,
with a smile on his face 'cause he knows you been had,
in fact, you have.

He goes to war to keep his colonies,
only now they're in the Middle East,
send the Army in,
but the home team always wins.

But we're fighting for Democracy,
a world safe for his oil buddies,
it's deja' vu.
Human rights on the barbeque.

King George is back,
only now he wears a cowboy hat.
Tying up our freedom like a rodeo calf,
with a smile on his face 'cause he knows you been had,
in fact, you have.

He plays the crowd to get the votes he needs,
he hopes you won't pick up the paper and read,
his friends are buying up voting machines
it won't matter whose name you touch on the screen,
He'll be back.
King George is back.

Washington said, "Boys died young
to hear the Liberty Bell rung,
now he spills their blood
and it fills your gas tank up."

He said, "I was Commander-in-Chief
and I fought with my infantry,
not on a throne,
sending boys to die far from home."

King George is back,
only now he wears a cowboy hat.
Tying up our freedom like a rodeo calf,
with a smile on his face 'cause he knows you been had,
in fact, you have.
King George is back.

Thank you, King George!
Thank you, King George!
Thanks for the big deficit.
We're up to our eyeballs.
We have to work our whole lives to pay it off.
Thank you King George!
